Project Countries – Scoping Documents

The purpose of these project country scoping documents is to provide a contextual overview of the individual countries that are the focus of the DFoP project, which are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.

These pages can be used as a general guide to the media landscape of each of the project countries, or can be used to contextualise the research findings emerging from the project (click here for the project outputs).

In brief, each document was developed to provide a top level analysis of the scope of press freedom in each project country, that includes: an account of the media landscape and environment for press freedom, the media market and audience news consumption, the public service media remit, indicators of trust, the regulatory context, current studies in journalism culture, and basic information on the political environment.
